SSAT at Home Equity Tech Kit

For those who do not have access to a computer and/or internet, equity test kits can be requested for taking the SSAT at Home or the Character Skills Snapshot. Please read and understand all information in this section before requesting a kit. Register but do NOT schedule your SSAT at Home prior to requesting a kit.

Basics

  • SSAT equity kits include a laptop and/or a mobile hotspot to provide internet access.
  • There is no fee for this service. Shipping and a prepaid return shipping label are included.
  • Equipment may only be used for taking the SSAT at Home or the Character Skills Snapshot.
  • To best support all families, kits must be returned within two business days of your scheduled SSAT at Home or within two business days after receipt of the kit if using it only for the Character Skills Snapshot. EMA will hold scores from testing and will not report scores to schools or to your family until the Equity Kit shows as having been received by the return shipping courier.
  • You will be required to complete a terms of use agreement, accepting responsibility for the use of the kit and its return.
  • Mobile hotspots work in most but not all geographic locations.

Requirements

  • Kits are available to both test takers that have been provided test fee waivers and those who have not.
  • If you have been provided a test fee waiver from a member school, you will be required to provide that waiver when requesting a kit.
  • If you do not have a test fee waiver, you will be required to register your student for the SSAT at Home WITHOUT scheduling a specific date and time.  You will be required to provide your SSAT Candidate Eligibility, noted in your account under SSAT Testing.

Step-by-Step Process — Before Testing

  • Ensure that you have a test fee waiver from an EMA member school -or- register for the SSAT at Home WITHOUT scheduling a date/time and have your SSAT Candidate Eligibility Code available.
  • Complete this form to request a kit.
  • Receive your shipping alert after your request is processed.
    Note: At busy testing times you may have to wait to receive a kit. Try to request an access kit and plan to test as soon as possible during the testing season.
  • Review your kit: When you receive your kit, open it and ensure everything is included. You should turn the computer on, connect it to your internet connection or connect it to the mobile hotspot, and run the system check.

Equity Kit Tech Support

If you have any difficulty with your equity test kit laptop, setting up your internet connection, or using the mobile hot spot, you may contact our technical support line at 267-554-7087. If you contact PSI for assistance during testing, please be sure to notify them that you are using an EMA provided equity kit.

Step-by-Step Process — After Testing

  • To best support all families, kits must be returned within two business days of your scheduled SSAT at Home or within two business days after receipt of the kit if using it only for the Character Skills Snapshot.   • Refer to the return cover sheet to pack all items back into the kit.
  • Remove the prepaid return label and close and seal the kit.
  • Apply the prepaid return label and call 1-800-GOFEDEX for a pickup or to find a convenient drop off location. Do not leave the kit unattended for pickup.
