How do I register for the SSAT?
Register online at www.ssat.org at any time or mail/fax a completed registration form to SSAT by the regular registration deadline.
How can I confirm my registration?
Your SSAT Admission Ticket confirms your registration and is required for entrance to the exam.
How do I change something on my registration?
- Requests for all changes must be made online or in writing, by mail, fax, or e-mail to info@ssat.org.
- Use the Account Management pages to change student or contact information.
- Add or cancel score reports online free of charge, or complete the Add/Cancel Scores form (fee applies).
- Change your test date or location online or complete the Test Change Request form.
How can I cancel a test that I will not attend?
If you have to miss the test for any reason, refunds are not available, but you may transfer to another national date or a test with an educational consultant within the current academic year. E-mail your request to info@ssat.org or use the Test Change Request Form. Transfer fee and deadlines apply. To cancel a test, use the test cancellation form at www.ssat.org/ordercancel.
How do I pay for the test?
Online registrants may pay by Visa or Mastercard or SSAT fee waiver. Mail/fax registrants may pay by check/money order, SSAT fee waiver, or Visa/Mastercard.
What is a fee waiver and how do I obtain one?
A fee waiver may be used to cover the $110 test fee only. A limited number of fee waivers are available from SSAT member schools, and you should contact the admissions office of the school where you are applying to request one before you register for the test.
Does SSAT offer refunds?
No, but if you cannot test on your registered date, you may reschedule to a different test date.
How can I prepare for the SSAT?
SSAT currently publishes a book of full-length practice tests, Preparing and Applying. Order online or mail or fax the order form.
SSAT does not endorse any test preparation courses, including those provided by member organizations.
When does the test begin and end?
National test administrations normally begin at 9:00 am, and dismissal normally occurs between 12 noon and 12:30 pm. Plan to arrive at your test center by 8:30 am, and check your admission ticket for specific
times.
How many times can I take the SSAT?
You may test on all eight national or five international test dates. You may only take one SSAT Flex test (as with an educational consultant).
Can I bring a snack or drink to the test?
Students may bring snacks and beverages for consumption during the two breaks. Snacks and beverages may not be consumed during testing.
When will my scores be reported?
Most scores are released to schools approximately two weeks after a test date. Printed reports are sent by mail, and online reports are posted to their SSAT Member Access account. Scores are released to families (by mail, FedEx and e-mail) a few days after the school score release date. Delivery time for first class mail may vary.
Can I get my scores online or over the phone?
No. Scores are released to students by mail, FedEx or e-mail only.
Will my test site automatically receive my test scores?
No. All score recipients must be indicated in the Score Recipient section of the registration form.
Can I send my scores to a school that is not listed under Score Recipients?
SSAT is not authorized to release scores to non-member institutions. Check the SSAT website, www.ssat.org, for the most current list of member schools and organizations. You may wish to contact the school to find out if they require SSAT scores.
If I do not know where I will be applying, can I register without listing score recipients?
Yes, you do not have to list any score recipients when you register. You may order additional reports later, online at no charge, or by using the Add/Cancel Scores Order Form (processing fee applies for written requests).
If I test multiple times during the year, which scores are reported?
A student may test on any or all of the eight nationally-scheduled SSAT administrations. SSAT will send official score reports only to those schools you designate. However, please note that, if you test multiple times within the current test year (August 2009 - July 2010), your official school score reports will indicate that you have multiple scores on file.
Are special testing accommodations, such as extra time, available for the SSAT?
Yes, students who can provide school documentation that verifies that they routinely receive special accommodations in their current school may apply for similar accommodations for the SSAT. Test sites are limited for national test dates, and registration deadlines apply.
I cannot test on a Saturday for religious reasons. What are my options?
SSAT schedules Sunday Testing at a limited number of locations only for students who observe a Saturday Sabbath. Late and standby registration are not available for Sunday test dates; these sites are only open for those students pre-registered with appropriate clergy documentation.
I can’t attend any of the scheduled test dates. Can I still take the SSAT?
Yes. We have a number of educational consultants that are available to administer the SSAT Flex Test on a limited basis.
Is your website secure?
Yes, the SSAT web site is secure and safe for the submission of personal and payment information. The "secure" part of the site is limited to the registration/payment pages of the site content, therefore the notice that often accompanies a secure site does not appear on all browsers.
When I click on the "Select a Test Site" button, nothing happens.
