Applying to Schools: Inquiries
Requesting Additional Information
It is usually best to give a closer look to more than one and as many as five or six schools that match most or all your family’s list of criteria. Realize that not all schools will match every one of your criteria, and so it is best to be very sure about your order of priorities. Also keep in mind that some schools receive many more applications from qualified students than they can accept. Students should apply accordingly, taking care not to make choices that limit chances for acceptance.
Visit the school's website, or call or write to the listed contact person. If a contact name is not listed, call the school’s admission office to request both a contact and the following information:
- A school brochure, student handbook, and catalog of classes
- An application and a description of application procedures
- Contact information for local alumni willing to talk with you about the school
- Financial aid information (if applicable)
It is useful to track your requests for information from independent schools. Reviewing your list from time to time will help you to quickly identify the information you have or are expecting. You should be aware that requests for catalogs and information are routinely handled by the admission office of the school and response time varies considerably. Allow yourself plenty of time to receive information.
You can request catalogs from multiple schools at once through the TABS website.
Online Inquiry Service
You may request information from schools through the SSAT School Locator Service. Use the SSAT School Search to locate schools and submit online inquiries.
