Taking the SSAT: Register for the Test: Standby Registration

Standby Test Registration

  • Standby registration opens two weeks before the test date and closes online at 8:00 am on the test date.

  • Limited availability, testing is not guaranteed.

  • Online registration only, payment by credit card or fee waiver.
A fee waiver covers a $116 national test fee only. Any additional fees must be paid at the time of registration by Visa/Mastercard.

  • Additional $60 standby fee applies.

  • 2011-12 Standby Registration Fee:
    $176 USA/Canada, $285 International Sites.

  • Limited seating and locations. When you register, check the number of standby testers registered at your site; a shorter wait list may improve your chances for being seated for the test.

  • Print your Standby Ticket online.

  • A standby ticket does not guarantee testing. Registrants will be admitted to the test based on the sole discretion of the Test Center Supervisor after all non-standby registrants have been accommodated.

  • If seats and test books are still available, standby registrants will then be admitted based on their queue number (assigned at the time of registration).

  • Be sure to arrive at the test site early to ensure proper check-in.

  • Students may not transfer to a different test center on the day of the test. Students will not be admitted to sites where they are not registered.

  • Standby registrants who are not able to test may transfer to a later test date at no additional charge. Requests must be received by 5:00 pm EST on the Friday following the missed test date.
