Founded in 1859, MICDS is one of the nation's pre-eminent independent schools. MICDS is a coed, college-preparatory school serving 1220 students on a 100 acre campus. Grades JK -4 and 9 - 12 are coed, while Middle School students, grades 5 - 8, learn within a framework of single gender and coed classes. MICDS is committed to its mission of preparing young people for higher learning and lives of purpose and service. The school's outstanding education balances strong academics, an innovative arts program, cutting edge technology with a one-to-one tablet laptop program for grades 7 - 12, service learning and an athletics program that consistently competes at the state championship level across an array of team and individual sport offerings. New students represent over 109 different public/parochial/independent schools. 24% of the student body receives financial aid, this year totaling over $3.6 million dollars. The 134 graduates of the Class of 2011 will attend 75 different four-year colleges. Tuition for the 2011-2012 school year ranges from $16,950-$21,950.
