 | Young Scholars Charter School prepares middle school students to attend and succeed academically in the best high schools and colleges, and Young Scholars provides students with a foundation of life skills required to become productive members of their communities.
Our fundamental goal is to end the achievement gap affecting urban, underserved youth who have come to us unprepared for success in secondary and higher education.
Excellent Curriculum and Instruction:
Young Scholars provides a challenging, teacher-based curriculum designed to ensure students gain full mastery of fundamental skills while also developing the higher order thinking skills necessary for success in high school and college. We position our students for success in a college preparatory high school program.
High School Placement/Tracking: We will work to place students in the best high schools in the region, with appropriate scholarships, and to ensure that students are prepared to transition successfully to these schools. Beginning with their first year at Young Scholars, we will provide a high level of support to students and families as they focus on the high school selection process. Additionally, throughout high school and into college, graduates will be tracked and supported as they continue on their path to excellence.
Replication: We will work to be recognized as a model inner-city school based on our student success and innovative educational practices. Young Scholars will seek to replicate this success elsewhere for underserved students in Philadelphia and in other cities, by actively and freely sharing our best practices. |
