What is a "Flex Test"?
A flex test is a group or individual SSAT administration on any date other than the national test dates. If you are testing with an educational consultant, you will take the flex test.

Registration Instructions

  • If you have arranged to test privately with an educational consultant or organization, or if your school is administering the SSAT to a group of its own students on a non-national test date, then you must register for the SSAT Flex Test using the link on this page.
  • You must register for the SSAT Flex Test online, using the special link on this page. Mail/fax registration is NOT available for flex test administrations.
  • Flex test dates are not listed on the regular (national test) registration form.
  • You should ONLY register for the flex test if you have already made an appointment with a school or consultant for the special administration date.
  • Before you register, note your scheduled test date and the 4-digit code of your test center.
One Test Policy

  • Although flex tests occur throughout the testing year, a student may only take the FLEX test one time.
  • If you have already tested at a FLEX administration this year (8/1/11 - 7/31/12), you may not register for another flex test.
  • If you have already tested and do not know what type of test you took, contact SSAT before continuing.
Changes and Cancellations

  • Cancel an Appointment: If you must change your scheduled test appointment for any reason, contact your test center directly as soon as possible and prior to the test date. Additional fees may apply.



Do not register for the Flex test unless:

  • You have already made an appointment with an educational consultant and have been instructed to register.

- or -

  • You are registering for an "Open Flex Date" such as a regional flex test given by the Ontario Consortium.

- or -

  • Your school is administering the SSAT to a group of its own students on a non-national test date and you have been instructed to complete a registration.

Flex testing is only guaranteed for scheduled appointments. Registration for open flex dates is subject to availability.
